Department for culture and information
City of Subotica is general sponsor of Guitar Open Festival from its founding, with its City Council and Department for culture and information
Department for culture and information follows cultural heritage in Subotica and institutions, associations, companies which are engaged in culture, art, and in protection of cultural heritage of Subotica. This department enhances active participation of our cultural heritage in broader regional, European and world cultural integrations; supports projects based on multi and interdisciplinary programs which are in harmony with modern challenges, like: Interetno (interethnic) Festival, Guitar Open Festival, theater Festival Desire Central Station 2009 – West, which are international festivals founded by Subotica and which develop critical thinking, strengthen ethical question and connection among people trough development of high culture and art, and also stimulate development of cultural-art amateurism.Beside above-mentioned events, City of Subotica also sponsors international festivals important for our city: Ethnofest, International children’s theatre festival, International Film Festival in Palic, Dužijanca, etc. City of Subotica, Department of Culture also works on informing and cooperation of institutions, and exchange of programs between them; supports participation of our institutions and organizations at national and international competitions and festivals; supports alternative projects in culture, as well as publishing; monitors press, radio and TV programs about new things in our city and informs broader public about news via web page; announces events and informs media about them; as a leader of a project Intercultural Cities (ICC) in which 12 cities from all around Europe take a part, also encourages training for journalists at international seminars; coordinates projects and participation at international conferences in frame of ICC program.
Ildiko Lovash was born on 18 August 1967. in Subotica. After graduating high school, she entered into Faculty of philosophy in Novi Sad, Department for Hungarian language and literature, where she graduated in 1991. She is teacher of Hungarian language and literature. In 1987, she got scholarship from broadcasting company, TV Novi Sad, and since 1991, she has been working as a journalist in this institution.
Since 1995 she has been working as journalist of cultural column of daily newspaper “Madjar So” literally translated “Hungarian So”, and since 1993 she has been permanent co author in weekly cultural column of the same media.
In school year 1997/98 started as a teacher of Hungarian language and literature in Economy High School “Bosa Milicevic”, where she is working now.
Since1998 she is chief editor of magazine Üzenet („Poruka“), (English version „Message“). Since she has undertaken supervision over magazine, it is available in internet, and the redaction is invited to attend at literature manifestations – sometimes it is individually invited, sometimes together with other magazine redactions. Üzenet („Poruka“) publishes thematic issues which represent organic part of cultural and spiritual life of Subotica: and that is actual reason why there are among co authors historians, architects, ethnologists, art historians… And the redaction is at the same time connected to the broader region.
Since 1998, she has been organising literature evenings in City bookstore “Danilo Kish”, where she also appears as a moderator.
Since 2003, she has been a member of City Council of Subotica in charge of culture and informing.
